Enniscrone has drawn praise from some of the biggest names in golf. Major champions and Ryder Cup heroes have tested themselves against our towering dunes and Atlantic winds, and few have left without singing the course’s praises.
Sir nick faldo
In July 2019, Sir Nick Faldo visited Enniscrone Golf Club, playing 18 holes with his partner and son, Matthew. Following his round, he spent time chatting with locals and posing for photographs.
Reflecting on his experience, Faldo said:
“Just played Enniscrone. Got to be the most dramatic, powerful and challenging dunes in links golf! Thanks for your hospitality, we had a great day.”
Shane Lowry
Shane Lowry, the 2019 Open Champion and one of Ireland’s most celebrated golfers, has spoken highly of Enniscrone Golf Club and its unique links experience. Known for his love of traditional links golf, Lowry has described Enniscrone as one of his favourite courses in Ireland.

Paul McGinley
Paul McGinley featured Enniscrone Golf Club in Golf’s Greatest Holes, selecting the spectacular 15th hole, with its sweeping views over Scurmore Beach and the Ox Mountains, as one of the standout holes on the Irish journey.
Ronan Rafferty
We were delighted to welcome Ronan Rafferty to the Dunes Championship Links at Enniscrone Golf Club.
Ronan won seven European Tour titles, claimed the European Tour Order of Merit in 1989 and represented Europe in the Ryder Cup at The Belfry. A pleasure to welcome such a distinguished name in European golf to our links!
Mikko Ilonen
Mikko Ilonen first made his mark here in 1999, winning the West of Ireland Championship as a 19-year-old amateur at Enniscrone. Fifteen years later, he went on to win the Irish Open at Fota Island, becoming the first Finnish golfer to claim the title. His journey from West of Ireland champion to Irish Open winner is a wonderful testament to the international golfing talent that has competed on the Dunes Championship Links.
